Memorial Day Salute To The Fallen 2017

Hundreds gathered in the rain to honor Fallen Service Members at the state's Gold Star Families Memorial. The 1st Annual "Salute To The Fallen", presented by Military Friends Foundation, brought Gold Star Families from across the Commonwealth to Fall River. Governor Charlie Baker, The Adjutant General of Massachusetts Major General Gary Keefe, Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services Secretary Francisco Urena, City of Fall River Mayor Jasiel F. Correia II, Senator Michael Rodrigues, Representative Carol Fiola, Representative Paul A. Schmid and Representative Steven Howitt joined the families for the ceremony which included special performances by the B.M.C. Durfee High School Band and Chorus. Honor Guards from the Fall River Fire Department, City of Fall River Police Department, Fall River EMTs, and the Marine Corps League Post 1285 saluted the families as they released doves in memory of their Fallen Heroes.
